Well these are quite useful windows tricks, for your own use. Anyone can add some more if they want, although this list is going to expand more and more as I discover new things.
1. How to open a link on a diferent window?
when the link is selected, press the shift key and then click the left mouse button, or alternatively for keyboard users press control pluss enter on the link.
2. (windows xp only): you can easily and quickly view what computers are are conected to yours when navigating on the internet, (for network purposes) doing this:
.click on start menu and then go to all programs.
.select accesories and then command prompt.
.type in netstat and then press enter.
.The list given are as the result are the conections your computer is receiving.
.if you need more information or want more help type netstat/?
3. Be handy when you are navigating on the net!
a good trick for internet explorer is pressing control pluss enter when you put a website's name, so the www. and .com surounding the website you did put.
For example if you put just the word "google" and instead of pressing enter you press control enter it would be write automatically, (only works in the address bar)
Once you have tryed it you won't be able to leave it.
3. How can we avoid an automatic virus being send to all our contacts?
-create in your contacts list or in your address book a contact with the quickname 0000. I tis not necesary to put e-mail or name. This account will remain as the first one on the list.
-when a virus tries to autosend itself to all your contacts, your pc will give you likely the following error:
"the message cannot be send. One or more recipients from your inbox don't have a valid e-mail. Please verify that one or more of the addresses in the address book have correct e-mail addresses"
Press OK, and then the message won't be sent to anyone. The virus will be then stored in the drafts folder where it can be deleted to make it disappear.
With this proces you will avoid the masive automated virus distribution which sends itself to all your address book contacts.
Thats all for now
